Design, manufacture & erection of a complex shaped steel framed building on a slab and basement (by others). The building frame included a double full height lift shaft with over – run. The external finishes which were all carried out by McCanns staff included some of the first applications in the UK of Kingspan ‘Thermabrik’ and Kingspan ‘Thermatile rainscrew system.

Some 23,000 ‘Thermabriks’ were fitted making this the largest application of the Kingspan product at the time of completion.

The internal fit-out included reception and administrative offices, toilets and kitchen, fully fire protected lift shaft, and in excess of 540 self storage units.

Project Value:

In excess of £1.4 million.

Services Supplied By McCanns:

Design, manufacture and erection of complete building, CDM, manufacture and installation of all internal storage partitioning & doors. Cladding, thermatile, thermabrik, roller shutter doors, windows and fire doors.

The building is a complex shape for a steel frame and particularly for the finishing materials required for the project.
The site was extremely tight being only 1.6 times the overall size of the building footprint.#
The site is situated between the river Lea to the rear and extends to the river Towpath (which had to be kept open to the public through out the build). and Leaside Road to the front elevation which is a main bus route.
